Meet Antonio Guillem who is a snappy snapper from Barcelona, Spain, who spends his time capturing stock images for companies. But wait, there's more! In 2015, he decided to spice things up after realizing his photos were selling like hotcakes. He created a masterpiece called "Distracted Boyfriend" that ended up taking the meme world by storm. It is a photo of a man walking with his girlfriend, but then he sees another girl and turns his head to check her out. The girlfriend's face looks like she just got hit with a frying pan of betrayal and shock. It's like a real-life soap opera unfolding in one photo!

When it came out in 2015, there was a question about why only boyfriends were targeted. To put things in perspective, the Barcelonian photographer who took this picture also took another one where the girlfriend was the culprit, but it went unnoticed.

Other funny stories are circulating online, too, such that the guy was merely glancing at the dustbin to see if the bottle he flipped landed in it and not looking at the girl passing by.

Distracted Boyfriend is cited as the most influential meme out there. And get this, the same actors from the original photo have been used in other memes, too, in all sorts of crazy situations. The Daily Dot even wrote an article about it: "Distracted girlfriend brings gender equality to the meme world." Who knew memes could be so woke?

Back in 2018, someone dug up a picture from the 18th century that was basically the OG version of the "distracted boyfriend" meme. And then people got really creative and started making all kinds of hilarious memes with it. It's like the meme gods were smiling down on the from the past! A variation was also published on the front page of the New York Times business section, taking it into the hall of meme!
